Coaches Needed for the
2008 Lacrosse Season!
Being a Cherry Hill Lacrosse Club coach will not only help deepen
your understanding of lacrosse, it will give you an opportunity to
help kids improve their skills and enjoyment of the game.
We are in need of coaches for Boys and Girls teams at all levels!
Give it a try, the kids need you!
CHLC Volunteer Job Descriptions:
1- Team Parent
Can be one or more parents, who distribute tasks to the parents on each team. The team parent will assign other parents on that team various duties such as handling the game clock and scorebook at home games, taking game pictures for submission to the webmaster, collect for coaches gifts, snacks, etc. Some tasks may be assigned to the team parent as well; everyone should share in the contribution.
2- Fund Raising and Sponsorships
For Sponsorships - a few parents volunteer to get local business or corporate donations made to the club. They should solicit volunteers from each grade level to help minimize the amount of time any single volunteer spends on the effort (strength in numbers!), coordinate it so that we go to all potential donors only once. Using the team sponsorship letter template, personalize the letters to each prospective sponsor, and give the letter to the donor along with a description of who we are, how it helps the kids, what the money is for, etc.
For Fundraising activities - several parents arrange for fund raising activities to benefit the entire club. This can be anything approved by the Board, such as Beef-n-Beer, sellling refreshments at home games, contests, etc.
3 - Uniform Distribution
Need at least two volunteers for each team to pick up the uniforms, confirm that order is correct from a list, organize each player's order into labeled bag, and distribute at practice.
4 - Field Preparation
One or more volunteers to organize amongst themselves the painting of lines once/week, usually Fridays on our home fields. Also needs to inspect the field for debris or hazards.
5 - Merchandise Sales
A few volunteers to decide on what to cell (caps, t-shirts, gear bags, etc) either by advance order or at home games. Items should support team spirit and be a funding source.
6 - Club Communications
Someone responsible for communications for handouts the coaches or board my have.
7 - Board Members
The board always needs new members to ensure a safe, fun, and educational lacrosse experience for our players. The board meets about 12 times per year, and does a lot of business by email. They are a fun, great, and productive group to work with. You'll find the contribution of your time to most rewarding for yourself and the children.
