Athlete Registration FAQ's

COSTS

ALL age groups require a USA Lacrosse Membership which costs $30.

Boys & Girls Kindergarten and 1st Grade (Scoopers Program)
Our Scoopers program is $90 and played on smaller fields with no contact on Saturday mornings.
Registration includes a t-shirt, lacrosse stick and a soft ball. No uniform is needed. 

Boys & Girls Grades 2 through 8
The registration cost is $185 per player, and requires a $55 uniform (online ordering info coming soon) and personal equipment.
We sell Boys Equipment Starter Sets for grades 2-4 for $200 (retail $275): They include Helmet, Elbow Pads, EKG Shoulder Pads, Gloves, Stick, Mouthpiece, Boys grades 5-8 need to visit DSG, or Universal Lacrosse to pick up equipment. [email protected] may have used helmets for older athletes. Boys will need to purchase Cleats, a Mouthpiece and a Protective "Cup" separately. 
Girls Equipment: Goggles, Stick, Mouthpiece, and Cleats (visit Her Sport, DSG, or Universal Lacrosse)

What you need on hand prior to registering:

  1. USA Lacrosse membership number for your player.  If you do not have one, register with US Lacrosse here.
  2. Health Insurance card and family doctor information (used for account creation in step 3 below)
  3. Cherry Hill Lacrosse website account.  If you do not have one click register here.

Registering

  1. Login to the Cherry Hill Youth Lacrosse website (click the login button above)
  2. Login and go to "Registration Info" and click on "Available Programs" (where you should be right now).  You should see the available programs for your player's that you entered into the system.
  3. Follow the instructions provided and register. 
  4. This year we are offering an option for 3 installment payments to ease the cost burden.  Select that if you would like as well.
  5. You will receive an email immediately with some information about the club, and where you can purchase uniforms and equipment.

FAQs

Are there TRYOUTS?
No. Each child that registers will be placed on a team. If there are enough players for TWO teams in a grades 2-8, the coaches of the respective teams will evaluate the players the last week of February. Following these evaluations the teams will be divided into A and B teams to best meet the current skill / game IQ levels of the athletes, and face an appropriate level of competition in league games. 

What are the expectations per GRADE BASED DIVISION?
Kindergarten and Grade 1 meet for 60 minutes once per week. A t-shirt, stick and soft ball is included with registration.
Grades 2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 practice for 90 minutes twice per week with two games on weekends. 

What are the PRACTICE TIMES and LOCATIONS?
Practices start the last week of February weather permitting. 

GIRLS practice on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS
BOYS practice on MONDAYS and WEDNESDAYS

Grade K -1 @ Richterman Grass Field on Saturday Mornings
Grades 2-4 @ Richterman Grass Field from 6:00pm - 7:25pm
Grades 5-6 @ DeCou Lacrosse Turf Field from 6:00pm - 7:25pm 
Grades 7-8 @ DeCou Lacrosse Turf Field from 7:35pm - 9:00pm

Both fields are on Cropwell Ave. between Kresson, and Evesham Roads.

When are GAME DAYS and what are the GAME TIMES?
Girls grade 2 teams will play 2 games on Saturday mornings starting at 9am. 
Girls grade 3/4 teams will play 2 games on Sunday afternoons starting at 3pm. 
Girls grades 5/6 and 7/8 play 2 games on Sunday afternoons starting at 12pm.

Boys grade 2, and 3/4 teams will play 2 games on Saturday mornings starting at 9am.
Boys 5/6 play 1 game on Friday night, and 1 game on Saturday afternoon.
Boys 7/8 play 2 games on Saturday afternoons.

An updated game schedule link will be provided once the South Jersey Youth Lacrosse League receives all towns team submissions (closer to February). Games typically begin the last weekend in March and continue until the first or second week of June.

Where do I buy UNIFORMS?
Uniforms will be ordered through www.Lax.com this year. We will post links to our website and social media, as well as send you a link to order your uniform. Uniforms are an additional cost. Uniform tops are mandatory, shorts are optional. 

What EQUIPMENT do we need?
All players in 2nd-8th grade will need to get protective equipment prior to the first practice. 
Both boys and girls need uniforms.
Girls need goggles, a mouthpiece, a stick and cleats. 
Boys need a helmet, EKG shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, a stick, a mouthpiece, cleats and a protective cup. For boys we recommend a white helmet.

How can I VOLUNTEER?

How can I DONATE to the club?
Lacrosse is an expensive sport, and every dollar helps us lower registration fees. Contact us at [email protected] and type DONATION in the subject line to get in contact with our Treasurer Steve Yerkes, and Director of Fundraising Raechel Hammer. We are a non profit 501c3 and can provide any tax documentation needed. 

Are there any PRESEASON OPPORTUNITIES for my son or daughter to develop?
Coach Meyers with Cherry Hill Varsity Lacrosse is running a winter league for boys and girls in grades 1-8. Winter League will take place on Sundays January 9th, 23rd, 30th, February 6th, and 13th at the Cherry Hill Turf Lacrosse and Soccer Field (2001 Chapel Ave W, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002). Many of our Youth coaches will be working the league. This is a great opportunity to meet some of our coaches, and jump start your son or daughter’s upcoming Spring season. 
Girls grades 1-8 will play from 9:00am - 10:00am
Boys grades 1-8 will play from 10:00am - 11:00am

2024 Coaching Applications are due Wednesday, January 10th, 2024.
Applicants need a Valid USAL Membership, Cleared USAL Background Check and have Competed the Athlete Abuse Prevention Course that lasts through June 1st. CHYL Coach/Volunteer Application Form


COACH LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATION

Level 1 Coaching Development certification is designed to introduce coaches to the responsibilities and philosophies of coaching and how to provide a safe and athlete-centered environment that emphasizes positive growth and sportsmanship. The Level 1 curriculum provides the tools to teach lacrosse effectively to players of all ages. This baseline training is relevant for all lacrosse coaches, regardless of experience. Cherry Hill Lacrosse requires Level 1 Certification for all returning and new Head Coaches, Assistant Caches, and Parent Volunteers.

Steps to Certification

Purchase a USA Lacrosse membership

For coaches 18 and older, membership includes complimentary enrollment into the Level 1 Coach Development Certification Program. Members will see this listed in their account online as “pending” until all requirements below are completed..

Pass an NCSI background screening

The criminal background check is based on guidelines from the National Council for Youth Sports, the FBI PROTECT Act and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Please note: It takes 2-3 weeks for USA Lacrosse to receive the results of a background check investigation. Membership is pending until a green light background check is received.

Complete Online Courses

  • Level 1 “Developing the Individual Athlete” Online Course (Non-game specific)
  • PCA Double Goal Coach 1
  • How to Make Proper Contact (Boy's game only)
  • Online courses are available at myaccount.usalacrosse.com (click on e-learning from the toolbar on the left hand side).

Tour guides navigate through coaching fundamentals and methods of teaching the sport. Current USA Lacrosse members have free, unlimited access to the men’s and women’s game courses. This access does not expire as long as your membership is current. Coaches must take the course for the game in which they wish to certify. Coaches looking to certify in both games must take both courses.

Complete a live training

Live training is available virtually. Click here for the calendar of currently available workshops. If you previously took our hands-on developing the individual athlete instructional clinic, you do not also have to take the athlete centered coaching virtual workshop to certify.

Completion

When USA Lacrosse has all of your requirements on record, you will see your certification listed on your member card, available at My Account.

Recertification

To maintain your certification, you simply need to:

  1. Keep your membership current by renewing each year. 
  2. Renew your NCSI background screening every two years after the first screening. Not sure when to do this? Check your expiration date.
